Write YOUR Story 4-Week Class (January 2025)

Original price was: $749.99.Current price is: $562.49.

Join me for a four-week online course as we work together to help you Write Your Story, whatever it is. The first version of this class was pitched for memoir writers, but the initial class members had diverse interests, so I broadened the mandate to encompass all writing for publication. Whether you plan to write fact of fiction—and the big difference is footnotes—I’m here to keep your voice front and center, while making sure it’s clear to your readers.

“Jason’s writing class was a delightful surprise. His enthusiasm made the classes fun. His tips, suggestions, and the quotes he included in each class helped me look at different ways to approach writing projects and give them more life. He shared stories of writers he has worked with and lessons he has learned. He covered both non-fiction and fiction, providing tools for working in each situation.  I left each class with a smile and excitement for the next steps.”
SC Robinson

“Jason’s course was a wonderful mix of practical writing-things-you-should-know, reasons why you should care (and about what), and real world experiences and anecdotes to drive those points home. The structure and approach of the course was clearly laid out and emphasized having a process that truly works for you. I found it very encouraging—so much so that I signed up for the updated and revised version of the workshop!”

Sean Murphy

We’ll explore the writing process while you begin to tell your tale in an encouraging and supportive environment.

The four ninety-minute sessions will be held at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time on successive Saturdays from 4 January 2024 to 25 January 2025, with replays available should you miss a session. This will be an interactive experience so live participation is encouraged, but life happens.

WHY SHOULD I WRITE MY STORY?

Writing is telepathy. When it’s done well, it transmits the writers thoughts to the reader’s head, creating a connection like no other; it reminds us we’re all in it together.

Writing is time travel. The written word tells posterity that its author was here, that they experienced the same thoughts and feelings, creating continuity for humanity.

Writing is revelation. When the thoughts in our head are transmuted to text on a page, they provide a new perspective on ourselves; you are what you write.

WHY SHOULD I WRITE MY STORY NOW?

If not now, when?

Lives and stories have one thing in common: they end. With a book, you can see how many pages are left; with a life, not so much.

We are unique equations, the products of our experiences and how we’ve processed them. If we don’t preserve the computations that factored into our lives, the richness of the human equation is diminished.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THIS WORKSHOP WITH YOU, JASON?

I have the experience to help you craft your story for maximum impact.

I don’t know you; I can approach your story objectively, as your prospective readers would.

I can teach you how to circumvent writer’s block, kill your darlings, and prevent procrastination.

I’ve worked with professional writers who’ve published a quarter-million words and first timers just settling their fingers on the keyboard, and I want to share that experience with you. Let’s put your story on paper.

FAQ

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THIS WORKSHOP?

1) Ideas for what you might want to write about.

2) A notepad or notebook, ideally of a size that it can be with you at all times, waking or sleeping.

3) A writing implement that offers the least resistance when you wake up in the middle of the night to jot down an idea. Pencils or retractable ballpoints/biros save you fumbling with caps.

4) The courage to face the blank page and the resolve to write until THE END.
